EEC's New Regulations go into effect on January 22, 2010

Implementation of EEC's New Regulations for Family Child Care and Small and Large Group and School Age Child Care Programs

EEC‘s new regulations for family child care and small and large group and school age child care go into effect on January 22, 2010. Although they are organized differently, most requirements remain unchanged in the new regulations. In those areas where there have been changes, EEC is continuing to provide resources and technical assistance to help programs meet new requirements.

Since October 2009, EEC staff conducted over 90 large and small trainings on the new regulations across the state. Well over 4,200 educators attended these meetings. Although no additional large trainings are being scheduled at this time, EEC’s regional offices will continue to host meetings that address these requirements for new applicants and for those renewing licenses.

Licensors will evaluate compliance with the new regulations as they continue their regularly scheduled license renewal and program monitoring visits. Licensors will provide technical assistance to programs and help them access resources to comply with the new requirements. All programs will be given a reasonable opportunity to comply with new requirements in the regulations. As is always the case, the amount of time allowed for compliance depends on the extent of the change and the potential risk to children.
